Three landscapes, arranged as one clear private route.

The standard route is designed to reduce unnecessary backtracking: Ijen first, followed by Tumpak Sewu and Bromo. Pickup and drop-off can be arranged in Surabaya, Malang or Banyuwangi. Bali and Yogyakarta transfers are available with an additional charge.

Trip itinerary

Your 4-day East Java journey.

Timing may be adjusted according to pickup details, weather, official destination conditions and the confirmed hotel route.

DAY 1

Pickup → Ijen Area

Pickup in Surabaya, Malang or Banyuwangi at the agreed time. Private transfer to the Ijen area. Stay in Bondowoso when arriving from the west, or Banyuwangi when arriving from Banyuwangi or Bali. Check in and rest before the early departure.

DAY 2

Ijen → Tumpak Sewu

Transfer to Paltuding and begin the trek around 2:00 AM when Blue Fire access is permitted. The 3 km ascent usually takes about 2 hours and the descent about 1.5 hours. Return to Paltuding around 8:00–9:00 AM, then return to the hotel to shower, pack and check out before continuing to the Tumpak Sewu homestay.

DAY 3

Tumpak Sewu → Bromo

Sunrise at Teras Semeru, breakfast and a guided Tumpak Sewu trek starting around 7:00–8:00 AM. Return around 11:00 AM, shower, pack and check out before transferring to the Bromo area. Goa Tetes is not included in the standard itinerary.

DAY 4

Bromo Sunrise → Drop-off

Depart by private jeep around 2:00–2:30 AM. Visit Prau Hill or King Kong Hill, Widodaren and the Bromo crater area. Return to the hotel around 9:00–10:00 AM for breakfast, then check out around 11:00 AM–12:00 PM and continue to the confirmed drop-off. Savana and Pasir Berbisik are optional at an additional charge.

What hotels are included?

Accommodation follows the route: Bondowoso or Banyuwangi for Ijen, a homestay near Tumpak Sewu and a Bromo-area hotel. Hotel names are confirmed in the quotation.

Is Blue Fire guaranteed?

No. Access and visibility depend on weather, volcanic activity, visibility and official regulations.

How difficult is the Ijen hike?

The trail is 3 km uphill and usually takes about 2 hours to ascend and 1.5 hours to descend.

Can one traveller book?

Yes. The tour can be arranged from one traveller upward, with the price adjusted to the group size.

What should I bring?

Bring a warm jacket, suitable hiking shoes, long pants, rain protection, personal medication and a small daypack.
